Nets Clinch Playoffs and Eliminate Knicks

Thursday night in Cleveland, it was the third quarter that killed the Nets. Friday night at the Meadowlands, it was the third quarter that eliminated the Knicks from playoff contention. Down three at the break, the Nets scored 40 points in the third to take control of the game. Much of it was fueled by Jason Kidd, who had recorded his 87th career triple-double by the end of the period. He finished with 13 points, 14 boards and 11 assists, as the Nets recorded 28 dimes on 35 field goals. Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson combined for 49 points with RJ hitting 5-of-9 from downtown. The win, along with Indiana's loss in Miami, clinched a playoff berth for the Nets. They're now a game and a half ahead of Orlando for the seventh seed, but still two games behind Washington for sixth.
