The Nets gave the Mavs a bit of a scare Tuesday night, but a fourth-quarter cold spell kept them from ending Dallas' 15-game winning streak. The Mavs countered a 14-0 Nets run that spanned the first and second quarters with a 14-0 run of their own and they led by six at the half and by four after three. The Nets then missed the first nine shots of the fourth quarter and Dallas build their lead back up to 10. After the Nets cut it to four with less than three minutes to go, Dirk Nowitzki scored five straight points to put the game away. Dallas had seven players in double figures, shooting 49% from the field. The Nets got 20 points, but just one rebound from Mikki Moore and Vince Carter led all scorers with 32 points on 10-of-25. The Nets' bench, which had been terrific of late, shot just 6-of-23 from the field.
