Nets Give One Away

After an ugly first three quarters, the Nets looked like they took control of the game with an 11-2 run that gave them an eight-point advantage early in the fourth at the Meadowlands Saturday afternoon. They led by as many as 12 midway through the final period and by nine with 1:24 to go in regulation. The Celtics then finished the fourth quarter on a 12-3 run, culminating in a Delonte West three that tied it with four seconds to go after Eddie House missed one of two at the line. The Nets players then inbounded the ball without calling timeout and House missed a halfcourt heave at the buzzer, sending the game to overtime. In the extra period, the Nets shot just 2-10 from the field and Paul Pierce caught fire to give the Celtics an improbable eight-point victory. Boston shot just 34% from the field, but the Nets committed 23 turnovers and allowed 18 offensive boards. The bench played well once again, but Jason Kidd shot just 1-7 and Vince Carter shot just 8-23 from the field.
