With eighth place in the East on the line, the Nets and Magic were tied with six minutes to go in the game Friday night. The Nets then shot 3-12 and committed three turnovers the rest of the way as the Magic won by eight. For the game, the Nets shot just 35% from the field and were outrebounded 54-37 by Orlando. After going without a free throw attempt in the first half, they got to the line 25 times in the second, but made just 16 (64%). Vince Carter led the Nets with 27 points, but he and Jason Kidd combined to shoot just 12-32 from the field and the Magic bench outscored that of the Nets 29-15.
