The Nets dropped another game at the buzzer Sunday afternoon as Tyronn Lue hit a jumper as time expired to give the Hawks a two-point, overtime win at the Meadowlands. The Nets came back from four points in the final minute of regulation to force OT and then tied the game with a Vince Carter three with 2.7 seconds on the clock in the extra period. But Lue was able to shake off Antoine Wright and knock down the open jumper from just inside the three-point line. The Nets played sluggishly throughout, but they did register 19 fast-break points and outscored the Hawks in the paint 56-30. Still, the Nets shot just 20-34 from the free throw line and Atlanta shot 57% from the field after halftime, led by Joe Johnson, who scored 37 points on 12-23 from the field. Carter led the Nets with 27 and Marcus Williams scored 18 off the bench, including a fast-break layup that tied the game with 10 seconds to go in regulation.
