Pistons Roll Over Nets

The Nets lost by 20-plus again, but this time was a little different in that the offense wasn't all that bad and the defense was the problem. The Pistons shot 56 percent from the field with six players in double-figures, cruising to 23-point victory at the Palace Sunday night. The Nets actually led by five late in the first quarter, but they went more than 6 1/2 minutes without a point and Detroit took the lead early in the second. A 7-0 run to end the half gave the Pistons a 10-point lead at the break and the Nets never threatened in the second half. Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson combined for 43 points for the Nets and Jason Kidd had 16 assists, but the Nets could just not put multiple stops together on the other end of the floor.
