Jason Kidd may or may not have asked the Nets for a $24 million extension. Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, he is certainly eligible for that much in 2009-10. And no doubt, his contributions have helped double the value of the franchise. But the trend in the NBA is to sacrifice big bucks for long term security.
