Just when you thought the Nets may have turned the corner with a nice win on Friday, they go and lose to the lowly Knicks the following night at Madison Square Garden. The game was close throughout, but the Knicks held the lead from midway through the second quarter on, and a 10-4 New York run midway through the fourth put the Nets in a 10-point deficit that they could not recover from. Other than Vince Carter and Jason Kidd, the Nets did not have much offensively. They shot 46 percent from the field, but only got to the line 16 times, only converted seven of those attempts, and were outrebounded 48-37. Richard Jefferson finished with just 14 points on 7-of-21 shooting. Meanwhile, the Knicks got big games from Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry.
