Losing Streak Hits Five as Sloppy Nets Lose Nail-Biter to Heat

After a 4-1 start to the season, the Nets head West having lost five straight games and with their record at 4-6. The Miami Heat got their second win of the season Saturday night, holding off the Nets down the stretch at the IZOD Center. The Nets connected on their first seven field goal attempts of the game, with Jason Kidd assisting on all seven, and they had an eight-point lead early. But they committed 20 turnovers in the first half and Miami was up 10 at the break. The Nets got back into the game in the third quarter and had two chances to tie in the final minute of the game, but Jason Collins missed two free throws with 28 seconds to go and Richard Jefferson missed a layup with 10 seconds left. Sean Williams and Jamaal Magloire each got their first start as Nets and Williams led the team with 22 points, eight boards and two blocks. Three of his dunks were featured in NBA TV's Top 10 Countdown. Jason Kidd finished with 16 points, eight boards and 15 assists, but was responsible for seven of the Nets' 27 turnovers.
