The Nets got down to 16 players Thursday cutting Eddie Gill rather than Robert Hite. The decision is a vote of confidence in the Nets' point guard situation. After a 40-minute scrimmage Wednesday, Jason Kidd said he felt no pain and in an ESPN interview, Vince Carter said he is happy to play the point. Keeping Hite over Gill also saves the Nets money since the Nets already have $20,000 sunk in Hite. Keeping Gill would have added some cost.
