Nets Finish One Off

The Nets would not let their opponents beat them on the final possession this time. A strong second half and execution on both ends of the floor down the stretch ended their three-game losing streak and got them their first road win against the Western Conference Saturday night in Denver. The Nuggets came out hot and led by as many as 14 points late in the first quarter, but the Nets' bench, led by Marcus Williams and Bostjan Nachbar, got them back into it and it was a one-point game by halftime. Vince Carter turned it on in the second half, scoring 28 of his 40 points after the break, while the Nets put the clamps on the Nuggets on the other end. Still, it was a five-point game with four and a half minutes to go, but the Nets put any chances of another heartbreaker away with a 12-3 run. Carter added seven boards and six assists to his 40 points, Nachbar finished with a career-high 22 points and Jason Kidd led the team with 12 boards. Meanwhile, Antoine Wright got the start and scored 11 points while keeping Carmelo Anthony under control on the other end.
