This time it was the Nets that came back from a large deficit. They were down by 18 to the Clippers early in the third quarter at Staples Center Thursday night and fought all the way back. They took the lead on a Boki Nachbar three with a minute and a half to go in the game and they led by two in the final seconds. But, just like Monday in Sacramento and Wednesday in Oakland, this one ended in heartache. Cuttino Mobley was left open as Sam Cassell drove the lane and hit a three from the right wing to give the Clippers the lead back with six tenths of a second on the clock. After a timeout, Jason Kidd and Vince Carter attempted to connect on an alley-oop at the rim, but Carter couldn't control the ball. VC led all scorers with 33 points on 13-of-18 from the field and Nachbar and Marcus Williams were again solid off the bench, but the Nets again missed key free throws down the stretch. They're now 0-8 on the road against the West.
