Nets Go Cold Down the Stretch, Lose Big Lead

In the middle of the third quarter in Sacramento Monday night, it looked like the Nets didn't need Richard Jefferson or Nenad Krstic ... or Vince Carter. With Carter in foul trouble, the Nets ran off a 24-6 run sparked by Jason Kidd and Mikki Moore to take a 20-point lead with three minutes to go in the third. But the Kings quickly cut it to 12 by the end of the period and the score was 83-73 with seven minutes to go in the game. And the score of the final seven minutes was Mike Bibby 15, Nets 4. The Nets shot 1-8 from the field and 0-4 from the line while committing four turnovers in that stretch, while Bibby scored 15 of his 16 total points, including the game-winning jumper with 10 seconds on the clock. The Nets had a chance to win it, but a Clifford Robinson tip off a Kidd airball rolled off the rim. Moore led the Nets with a career-high 22 points and Kidd recorded his 83rd career triple-double, but Carter scored just eight points on 4-of-11 and turned the ball over five times.
