Cliffy's Tip Saves Nets

The Nets controlled the game for 46 minutes at Madison Square Garden Friday night, but the Knicks went on an 11-0 run culminating in a David Lee tip-in to give them a one-point lead with 9.8 seconds left in the game. After a timeout, Vince Carter (who missed a pull-up on the previous possession) took the ball to the basket and missed an attempt from the right block, but Clifford Robinson tipped it in from the opposite side to give the Nets back the lead with 2.8 on the clock. Because New York did not have any timeouts left, Stephon Marbury could only get off a halfcourt attempt at the buzzer that was off the line. Jason Kidd led the Nets with 23 points, seven boards and nine assists. Richard Jefferson added 21 and Robinson had his best game since returning from injury with 11 points and six boards off the bench. The Knicks outscored the Nets by 16 at the foul line, but they committed 17 turnovers, compared to 10 from the Nets.
