New Ratner Critic Veteran of City Planning Wars

Kent Barwick, director of the Municipal Art Society, is the new face of opposition to Bruce Ratner's plan for Atlantic Yards, the megadevelopment anchored by a new Nets' arena. Unlike hardline critics who want the project dumped, Barwick and his society want it reduced by 30%, far more than Ratner has proposed. But the century old society has a record of getting things done. But not everyone believes the society or its partners in the new Brooklyn Speaks coalition represent anything new.
