In an effort to move his Atlantic Yards project forward, Bruce Ratner has agreed to cut the density at the Brooklyn development by 8%, as recommended by the City Planning Commission. While the reduction is not expected to satisfy the project's critics, it will provide at least the perception of a compromise his supporters can use to accelerate the approval process. The reduction won't effect the Nets' new arena.
