Nets sign Adams, Jay Williams next

The Nets signed Hassan Adams of Arizona to a contract yesterday, which made him the 15th player on the team's roster--but not the final one.

Adams will get $412,000 his rookie season, with the team holding the option ($687,000) for 2007-08. The second round pick, a 6'4" swingman whom GM Ed Stefanski envisions as "our rottweiler", is expected to add speed and athleticism to the Nets' transition game, and develop into a defensive stopper. As for his versatility, the numbers explain it: He is the only player in PAC-10 history to record 1,800 points, 700 rebounds and 200 steals.

Even though they have the league maximum o f 15 players, the nets will sign Plainfield native Jay Williams to a partially guaranteed contract today. When the team reaches a buyout agreement with Jeff McInnis, Williams' chances of a roster spot will likely be locked, unless he is beaten out for a job during training camp.
