Ratner Facing Pressure to Reduce Size of Atlantic Yards

City and state officials who support Bruce Ratner's Atlantic Yards are pressing the developer and Nets' owner to tone down the size of the overall project. They're hoping that Ratner, who wants to move the team to the site, will go along and come up with a reduced plan by September 22, the date of the next community forum. The current plan calls for 16 skyscrapers, nearly 7,000 apartments and the Nets arena on 22, acres much of it built over rail yards in central Brooklyn.
