Nets Lose $5.7 Million in Quarter; Arena Rights in Question

The Nets lost $5.7 million in the first quarter, according to a Sports Business Journal analysis of statements filed by Forest City Enterprises, the parent company of Bruce Ratner's development arm, FCE is the largest single shareholder in the franchise. SBJ added that the Nets will not be able to get significant naming rights money from the new Brooklyn arena because so much of that money will be soaked up by the new Giants Stadium and other metropolitan area venues.
