The Nets said they will give a tryout to Plainfield, NJ native Jay Williams on June 17. The former Chicago Bulls point guard--whose career was derailed by a June 2003 motorcycle accident that severed a main nerve in his left leg, tore ligaments in his knee and fractured his pelvis--has so far worked out for only one team, the Toronto Raptors.

One observer who saw the May 31 tryout said the 24-year-old Williams needs to "still loosen up" his left leg and prove that it's strong enough in a summer league setting.
