Sports Business Journal reports that the NBA will now use a study of teams' business performance in doling out money left over from the league's escrow fund of players' salaries. Teams that operate at "an optimum level but still face revenue shortages" could receive millions from the league. The study, by the McKinsey Group, measures performance in sales and marketing, areas where the new Nets management has excelled. The money could be distributed as early as October, says SBJ.
