Shaquille O'Neal who is the game's highest paid player was fined $15,000 by the NBA Friday for comments he made about refereeing following the Heat's loss to the Nets last weekend. O'Neal had called the Nets game "most ridiculous game I've ever been part of" and criticized Stu Jackson, the NBA's deputy commissioner, as well. Pat Riley, while supporting O'Neal, noted that Jason Collins does a good job on the Heat's massive center.
