Will they lose again? With Vince Carter just showin' off and the defense holding the Heat to 78 points--the third time in four games they have held a opponent below 80--the Nets looked unbeatable...and for the past 12 games now, they have been. Carter led all scorers with 43 points from all over the court but mostly from deep behind the three point line where he was 6-for-9. Carter scored 33 points in the second half, 20 in the third quarter. It was Carter's fourth straight magnificient game against Miami. He finished the four-game set averaging 38.6 ppg. Carter also handed out six assists. Defensively, the Nets once again kept Shaquille O'Neal in check, permitting him 18 points and 9 rebounds. Dwyane Wade had 32. The Nets and Heat went back and forth through the first half with Nenad Krstic supplying most of the impetus, then New Jersey rode Carter in the big third quarter, going up by 20 before the Heat made a comeback to get within five. Then, as he had all game, Carter led the Nets on an 11-2 run. The Nets now have the second longest winning streak in franchise history and have won eight straight at home and 34 straight when leading after three quarters. The next Net win or Sixer loss will give the Nets their fourth Atlantic Division crown in five years. On hand for the game: former Net Kerry Kittles.
