The sound of bulldozers and jack hammers were heard in Brooklyn Wednesday morning as demolition began on a group of six buildings standing in the way of Bruce Ratner's new Nets arena. The buildings in some cases will have to be taken down mainly by hand. The half-billion arena, expected to be the world's most expensive, has not been approved but a court recently approved the demolition, citing concerns about public safety.
