Bench Is Key Again As Nets Beat Rockets

So Lawrence Frank really meant what he said about giving the bench another chance to prove themselves. This time it was Clifford Robinson and Lamond Murray who came up big, combining for 23 points and nine rebounds as the Nets beat the Rockets at the Toyota Center Monday night. After falling behind by six after the first quarter, the second unit, along with Vince Carter, put together an 11-2 run to start the second and give the Nets a lead that they would never relinquish. They led by as many as 15 and Houston never got within less than nine in the fourth quarter. Carter led the Nets with 29 points, adding six boards, seven assists, two steals and two blocks. Jason Kidd, thanks to an otherwise meaningless three from Richard Jefferson with two seconds to go, recorded his 73rd career triple-double. Yao Ming, usually held in check by the Nets, scored 36 points on 9-of-17 from the field, but his teammates combined to shoot just 29%.
