Nets Lose OT Thriller In Atlanta

The Nets had to come from behind once more Monday night at Philips Arena, trailing the Hawks by as many as 11 points after a sluggish second quarter. They caught up midway through the fourth and had a two point lead in the closing seconds of regulation when Josh Smith hit a jumper to tie it with four seconds to go. The Nets then gave the ball to Vince Carter, but he lost it and the game went into overtime. The Nets took an early four-point lead in the extra period, but the Hawks then went on an eight-point run held a two-point lead when the Nets gave the ball back to Carter with six seconds to go in OT. Carter, still a bit hobbled by his hamstring injury, decided to pull up from 30 feet out. His shot went in and out and Nenad Krstic missed a tip-in as the buzzer sounded. Carter scored 22 points, but shot just 9-24 from the field. Jason Kidd scored 19 points, dished out a season-high 17 assists and grabbed nine rebounds.
