Nets Escape With Victory Over Short-handed Magic

The Nets came back from a double-digit, second-half deficit for the second straight night, coming away with a tough victory over the Orlando Magic Wednesday night at the Meadowlands. The Magic shot 23-34 in first half and held a ten-point lead at the break. They extended it to 13 a few minutes into the third, but then the Nets then went on an 8-0 run to get back into the game. New Jersey took a one point lead late in the third and led by as many as six midway through the fourth, but the Magic came back to tie the game at 85 with three minutes to go. The Nets then got a huge offensive rebound leading to a Jason Kidd three-pointer, which Kidd followed up with a drive to give them a five-point lead on the next possession. Orlando stayed in it though, and after an offensive rebound on a missed free throw, had a chance to tie it on a Carlos Arroyo three with two seconds left. It missed however and the Nets came away with their 14th victory in their last 15 home games. Kidd led the Nets with 28 points on 10 of 13 shooting, adding 11 assists and 7 rebounds. Richard Jefferson added 23 points and 8 boards and Vince Carter finished with 22 and 9.
