Spurs End Another Nets Streak

Earlier in the season, the Spurs ended the Nets 10-game winning streak. In Game One of the 2003 NBA Finals, the Spurs ended the Nets' 10-game playoff winning streak. Friday night, the Spurs ended the Nets' 12-game home winning streak. The Nets were shooting 49% from the field and led by three at halftime, but San Antonio put the clamps on in the second half, holding the Nets to just 17% (3-17) shooting in the third quarter and taking a seven-point lead into the fourth. A 10-2 run to start the fourth gave the Nets a brief one-point lead, and it was a one-possession game with less than five minutes to go, but a 10-0 San Antonio run put the game away. Vince Carter led the Nets with 21 points, but he made just four of his 15 shots in the second half and only got to the line one time all night. Tim Duncan was in and out of the bathroom all night with "flu-like symptoms", but played solidly for the Spurs, who also 41 points from their backcourt tandem of Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. The Spurs have now beaten the Nets the last seven times they have played in the regular season.
