In a surprise development, the Nets and the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority are in serious negotiations for the team to remain in the Meadowlands through the 2009-10 season...or possibly longer. Delays in getting the new Nets arena in Brooklyn approved have necessitated the change of plans. Originally, the team expected to be in its new half-billion dollar home in 2007-08 then pushed it back til the 2008-09 season. The Nets lease at Continental Airlines Arena ends in 2008.
