In spite of their position in the woeful Atlantic division, John Hollinger of ESPN and the New York Sun says the Nets cannot be considered contenders. They simply aren't that good. Injuries, as he predicted in the preseason, have hurt the Nets badly. Hollinger stated early that the Nets were unlikely to have the same luck they had last year when they went the whole season without a major injury. Now, he says, they have been exposed as simply mediocre.
