The Nets came up very short in their bid to put together three straight wins for the first time this season. The Nets had an off night, shooting 39% and never getting into any kind of rhythm in the halfcourt, dropping their second straight division game Friday night in Toronto. Vince Carter played his worst game of the season, hitting just four of his 17 shots, several of them ill-advised. Jason Kidd and Nenad Krstic were not much better, combining to shoot 8-25 from the floor. A 20-2 first-quarter run gave the Raptors and early lead. The Nets made a run early in the second to tie it and down 10 late in the third, they made another run to get within one. But a 14-3 run late in the fourth sealed the game for Toronto. The Nets had six players in double figures, including solid performances off the bench from Mikki Moore, Hassan Adams and Eddie House, but they recorded just 12 assists all night.
