When James "Flight" White was unexpectedly released by the Pacers the day before the season opened, the Nets wanted to pursue the 6'-7" rookie swingman out of Cincinnati. But because New Jersey has been unable to dump Jeff McInnis' contract, the team was out of luck, reports the Star-Ledger and Record. The Nets had worked out White, an athletic defender, before the draft and even considered him in the first round. White has since signed with San Antonio.
