By now, everyone knows the Nets waited out the draft back in June, hoping that Marcus Williams would fall to #22. It worked because teams drafting ahead of them didn't want to take a risk. Now comes evidence that the Nets had stealth competition that night. A clip of the Raptors war room, posted on YouTube, shows Toronto's GM, Bryan Colangelo, frantically trying to acquire a pick to grab Williams. Toronto once had the 20th pick, obtained in the Carter trade, but sent it to New York.
