Good afternoon. I hope that you had a great holiday weekend. Unfortunately, our team's holiday spirit was dampened by four consecutive losses on the west coast and I wanted to take a moment to address the state of the team for you and our other season ticket holders.
We feel that despite the losses, the team played reasonably well but had some lapses, particularly on the defensive end which contributed to us not getting the job done. Our philosophy has always been that winning begins with defense and right now we are allowing our opponents to get too many easy shots. I can assure you that Coach Frank and his staff are working hard to address this area and that it will be corrected.
There are some positive signs which give us reason to believe that we will right the ship quickly. First, our bench led by rookie Marcus Williams has given the team a lot of life and energy. We have several talented players that are seeing a lot of meaningful NBA minutes for the first time and we expect them to improve as the season moves along. Next, we expect Eddie House and Josh Boone to make their Nets debuts in the days to come, which will enhance our rotation. Unfortunately, Cliff Robinson will undergo arthroscopic surgery today on his left knee and will be out of the lineup for the time being. However, injuries are part of the game and we cannot use them as an excuse.
Finally, 14 of our next 19 games are at home and we have a great opportunity, with your support and energy, to get back to the winning ways that you have come to expect and deserve. I thank you for being a Nets fan and look forward to seeing you tomorrow night when we host the Charlotte Bobcats.
