Vince Carter gets a bad rap. So says Sam Smith, basketball writer for the Chicago Tribune. Smith says the media often gets caught up with what they think a player should be rather than be satisifed with what he is. Smith calls Carter "a very decent man and one of the better people around the NBA" who the Nets can rely on. He isn't Michael Jordan, but he never said he was. Smith also reveals that Jay Williams emailed him to predict he will be an all-Star. Smith doubts it but adds "he's fooled me before".
