Kidd's 69th Career Triple-Double Fuels Ninth Straight Victory

After a six-day layoff, it took the Nets a while to get back into the groove they were in when they ran off eight straight wins to finish 2005, but a 17-4 run spanning the second and third quarters keyed their ninth straight victory over the Magic at the Meadowlands Friday night. New Jersey finished the third quarter on a 10-1 run to take a 20-point lead which Orlando cut down to 7 late in the fourth. That would be as close as they got and the Nets hit 12 straight free throws to finish it off. Jason Kidd led the way for the Nets, recording his second triple-double of the season and the 69th of his career with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists. Six Nets scored in double-figures led by Vince Carter with 31 points and they recorded 31 assists on 37 field goals, their highest percentage for the season. Orlando shot 48% from the field and out-rebounded New Jersey 46-36, but they committed 21 turnovers and the Nets hurt them at the free throw line, hitting 33 of 37 from the charity stripe.
