Zoran Planinic sprained his ankle in the first quarter of Croatia's loss to Spain tonight. Although he briefly returned, he watched the second half from the lockerroom. The extent of the injury is unknown. Spain tied the game at the buzzer with a Fran Vasquez layup, then ran away in overtime. At the end, referees assessed technical fouls against Croatia's coach and players, angry over the 49-12 disparity in free throws. Croatia plays Slovenia tomorrow for the right to play in the 2006 world championships.
