The Metropolitan Transportation Authority voted today to sell Nets onwer Bruce Ratner the 8.3 acres he needs to build his half-billion dollar Nets arena and three billion dollar mini-city above the MTA's Brooklyn Atlantic rail yards. Now that the MTA has approved the plan, Ratner still has two more hurdles to clear before he can start building: an environmental review and a vote by the state Public Authorities Control Board, which is likely to approve the plan.
