With their pursuit of Sixer swingman Aaron McKie under way, and the amnesty clause deadline fast approaching, the Nets cut Ron Mercer today. Mercer played just 18 games for the team and waiving him under the amnesty clause could save the team a few million in luxury taxes. Meanwhile, with the Knicks' Allan Houston and Pacers' Austin Croshere surviving the cut, the Nets are looking at a variety of journeymen to fill out the roster.
