Bids are due today for the air rights over the Brooklyn Atlantic Rail Yards and Bruce Ratner is expected to be the only bidder. Ratner needs to make a deal with the yards' owner, New York's Metropolitan Transit Agency, before he can build a new Nets arena or the rest of his "instant skyline". The planned new city of 15,000 would consist of 17 new buildings, including a new 62-story tower that would be Brooklyn's tallest.
