At some point, it will all end, but the Nets' pursuit of Shareef Abdur-Rahim appeared no closer to a conclusion today than it did at the beginning of the week. The Nets want the free agent power forward to commit to playing in New Jersey, believing it will force Portland to get real in negotiations for a sign-and-trade. Portland doesn't disagree with that position. But Abdur Rahim's agent wants a deal in place before he commits and claims eight teams have offered him the mid-level exception. Meanwhile, the Nets continued to pursue other options, including Darius Songaila of the Kings.
