Nets Hold Off Knicks to Inch Closer to Playoffs

The Nets started off slow, scoring just 5 points in the first 6 minutes Thursday night, but they quickly got their act together and built a 20 point lead by halftime. The Knicks didn't have much to play for, and they sure showed it through the first half, committing several careless turnovers and letting the Nets run all over them. The Nets couldn't put the Knicks away completely though, as New York played looser in the 2nd half, and Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford were able to penetrate with ease. The Knicks cut the Net lead down to 6 midway through the fourth quarter, but that was as close as they would get, as the Nets then went on a 10-1 run to put the game away. Vince Carter recorded his 20th 30-point game with the Nets, finishing with 32 on 13 of 27 from the field. Jason Kidd recorded his 7th triple-double of the season, scoring 28 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 12 assists. With the win, the Nets moved back to within one game (two in the loss column)of the Sixers for the last playoff spot in the East.
