Hot Heat Beat Nets in Game 1

The Heat shot 59% from the field, including 9 of 15 from 3 pt. range, and scored the most points the Nets had given up all season, winning game 1 of the 7 game first round series Sunday afternoon in Miami. Dwyane Wade led all scorers with 32 points, and Damon Jones shot an incredible 10 for 12 from the field, includind 7 of 9 from the beyond the arc, as the Nets defense seemed a step slow all game. The Nets started out well, leading by 7 points with 4 1/2 minutes to go in the first quarter. The Heat then went on a 20-3 run, taking a 10 point lead early in the 2nd. They built the lead up to 16 and led by 12 at the half. The Nets could never get the lead under 10 in the second half, and Miami cruised to an 18 point victory. Vince Carter led New Jersey with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists, but shot just 8 of 21 from the field. Jason Kidd finished with 18 points, but just 4 assists. Richard Jefferson, playing for the first time in 3 1/2 months, scored 9 points in 23 minutes. Nenad Krstic scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, but injured his tailbone when he was knocked to the floor by Shaquille O'Neal in the 4th quarter.
