Needing a win to stay ahead of the Cavs for the last playoff spot in the East, Jason Kidd and the Nets wasted no time in taking control of the game. Kidd came out firing, scoring 15 first quarter points as the Nets took a 32-13 lead. Kidd didn't slow down after that, finishing with 35, and adding 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals, as the Nets cruised to their third straight comfortable victory. Vince Carter added 26 points and several highlights, Brian Scalabrine chipped in 13, and Zoran Planinic came off the bench to score 12. Cleveland defeated the Celtics to remain in the playoff picture. The Nets need a win over Boston or a Cleveland loss in Toronto on Wednesday night to secure their spot in the playoffs.
