The Nets moved to within a half game of the 8th seed in the East with a wild victory at Madison Square Garden Friday night. The Knicks erased a 10 point Nets lead in the third quarter, and the game was tight for most of the 4th. After Jason Collins hit a jumper and Jason Kidd converted a Knick turnover, the Nets led by 6 with 1:20 left. The Knicks cut it to two, though, and after the Nets couldn't convert on their last possession, had a shot to tie or win it with 5 seconds on the clock. Tim Thomas missed a three pointer at the buzzer, however, and the Nets came away with their 3rd straight win. Vince Carter led all scorers with 31 points, and Jason Kidd added 18 points and 8 rebounds. The Nets have defeated the Knicks in 18 of their last 21 meetings, including last season's playoff sweep.
