Marty Burns of Sports Illustrated says the reason for Nets' disappointing record this season is quite obvious: defense and particularly perimeter defense. It does no good, he says, to hold teams to a 42.5% shooting percentage if a lot of those shots are three points. He also suggests each of the Big Three has a defensive deficiency. Still, he notes, the Atlantic Division does provide the Nets a luxury other disappointing teams would love to have.
