Richard Jefferson had a near triple-double and the Nets got an improved defensive effort to come away with an eight-point win over Utah Wednesday night at the Meadowlands. Jefferson finished with 17 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds and Vince Carter led all scorers with 21. The Jazz were up one at the half, but the Nets put the clamps after the break, winning the third quarter 30-14 (capped off by a 80-foot buzzer beater from Zoran Planinic), and taking control of the game. The Nets held Utah to just 38% shooting for the game, including just 4 of 21 in that decisive third period.
