The New York state assemblyman who represents the area where Bruce Ratner wants to build a new Nets' arena is backing off in his support for the plan. Roger Green told an assembly hearing on eminent domain that he believes the area is not "blighted" and thus should not be condemned. Ratner needs the state to condemn several properties before he can build the arena, the first stage of his mini-city. Any delay will jeopardize the Nets plan to move to Brooklyn by 2008-09.
