The Nets will be in the same situation with Richard Jefferson this summer as they were with Kenyon Martin last year. With his improved play, Jefferson has increased his value, and put more pressure on the Nets to get an extension done before he goes into the final year of his current contract. Whether he and Martin remain Nets will depend largely on the willingness of the new ownership to spend money.
