The Nets got big performances from Richard Jefferson and Rodney Rogers, but could not stop the Celtics on the other end of the floor as they lost to Boston for the first time in 10 games, including last year's playoffs. Paul Pierce led all scorers with 34 points. With the win, the Celtics climbed into the 8th playoff spot in the East. Despite the loss, the Nets clinched a playoff birth, thanks to Cleveland's loss in Philadelphia.
